CRYSTAL EYES
Composition
1 ml of the drops contains:
- Chlorhexidine bigluconate – 0.15 mg;
- Taurine – 20 mg;
- Glycerin – 10 mg;
- Succinic acid – 1 mg.
Water for injection.
Pharmacological properties
This medication contains chlorhexidine bigluconate, taurine, and succinic acid. Crystal Eyes eye drops have bactericidal, anti-inflammatory, and anti-edema properties. When instilled into the conjunctival cavity, the medication easily penetrates all ocular tissues, providing a sustained therapeutic level of active ingredients.
Chlorhexidine has a rapid bactericidal effect on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, dermatophytes, and lipophilic viruses. When chlorhexidine salts dissociate, the resulting cations bind to bacterial cell walls. This binding disrupts the osmotic balance and membrane function of the cells, leading to decreased cellular ATP levels and, ultimately, the death of the microorganisms.
Taurine protects the retina from damage, improves photoreceptor function, stabilizes cell membranes, and improves optic nerve conductivity.
Glycerin effectively moisturizes the conjunctiva.
Succinic acid regulates oxidation-reduction processes, promotes regeneration, reduces inflammation, slows cataract development, and helps prevent degenerative and dystrophic disorders in the retina and lens.
Indications for use
For dogs and cats, for daily eye hygiene (removing dried discharge from the corners of the eyes; to prevent tear stains, you can also wipe the area around the animal's eyes).
Dosage and route of administration
For daily eye care in mild conjunctivitis cases, use a sterile gauze pad soaked in the medication to remove exudate and crust from the inner corner of the animal's eye. After this, the drops should be instilled into the conjunctival cavity. For cats and dogs weighing up to 10 kg, administer 1 drop. For dogs weighing over 10 kg, administer 2 drops. Treatment can be given 1 to 3 times a day, as needed, with intervals of 5 to 10 days between treatments.
- When treating the eyes once daily, the medication should not be used for more than 45 days, followed by a break of 10 days.
- When treating the eyes twice daily, the medication should not be used for more than 20 days, followed by a break of 7 days.
- When treating the eyes three times a day, the medication should not be used for more than 14 days, followed by a 5-day break.
In case of excessive tearing, redness, injury, or if there are foreign objects or irritants present, use 1-2 drops three times a day for a duration of 5 to 14 days.
To prevent cataracts and age-related degenerative changes in the retina and cornea, this drug is administered as 1-2 drops twice daily for 20-day courses, with intervals of 10 days.
