The BIOTESTLAB portfolio has a new product for treating infectious diseases of the eyes and ears in dogs and cats – Ciprox in the form of drops.
The drug contains ciprofloxacin at a concentration of 5 mg/ml, which provides a pronounced antimicrobial effect. Release form: transparent solution in polymer dropper bottles with a volume of 10 ml.
Ciprofloxacin belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones and has a bactericidal effect. The mechanism of ciprofloxacin action is to inhibit bacterial DNA-gyrase, thereby blocking the process of DNA synthesis and disrupting the integrity of the bacterial cell membrane, which leads to its death. Ciprofloxacin is active against most gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, against mycoplasmas, mycobacteria, and chlamydia. Does not cause the development of pathogen resistance. When instilled into the conjunctival sac, it quickly penetrates all eye tissues, especially, the epithelium of the cornea and conjunctiva. When instilled into the ear, the maximum concentration of the active substance in the blood is recorded within 90 minutes.
Ciprox is used in dogs and cats for the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the eyes, and eye appendages (acute and chronic conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, keratitis, ulcers, and erosions of the cornea, iritis, septic iridocyclitis, blepharitis) and ears (acute and chronic otitis of various etiologies) caused by microorganisms sensitive to ciprofloxacin, as well as in allergic processes of the anterior segment of the eye complicated by bacterial infection. In addition, the drug is recommended to control inflammation of the eyes and ears in the preoperative and postoperative periods, after eye injuries or the entry of foreign bodies and aggressive compounds into the eyes.
The course of treatment is usually 5-7 days. The drug is instilled into the conjunctival sac or ear canal, 1-2 drops 2-3 times a day, depending on the degree of lesion.
