tylosin tartrate – 75 mg;
dexamethasone acetate – 0.75 mg
Excipients: glycerol formal, butylhydroxytoluene, butylhydroxyanisole, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, propylene carbonate, dimethylacetamide.
Pharmacological properties
ATC vet code QJ01 – antibacterial veterinary drugs for systemic use. QJ01RV01 – antibacterial veterinary drugs and corticosteroids.
Florfenicol is a derivative of thiamphenicol in which the hydroxyl group is replaced by a fluorine atom. Florfenicol binds to the 70S ribosomal subunit inside bacterial cells. It blocks the enzyme peptidyl transferase, which interferes with amino acid transport and ultimately stops protein synthesis at the ribosomal level in bacteria that are sensitive to the drug. Florfenicol is active against Histophilus somni and Pasteurella spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Prevotella melaninogenica, and Moraxella bovis. It is also effective against most mycoplasmas (Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis, and others).
Indication
Treatment of pigs for pleuropneumonia, pasteurellosis, mycoplasma pneumonia, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, and haemophilus infections caused by microorganisms (Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, E. coli, Salmonella spp., and Haemophilus parasuis) sensitive to florfenicol and tylosin.
Dosage
Intramuscularly, administer a single dose of 0.33 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight (equivalent to 100 mg of florfenicol, 25 mg of tylosin tartrate, and 0.25 mg of dexamethasone). If necessary, the injection is repeated after 48 hours.
Special precautions for use
If the administered dose exceeds 10 ml, divide the injection volume in half and administer the drug at different sites.
Withdrawal period
Slaughter of animals for meat is permitted 29 days after the last administration of the drug. The meat obtained before the specified date is either disposed of or fed to non-productive animals, depending on the conclusion of the veterinarian.
