The Ukrainian manufacturer of veterinary medicines, BIOTESTLAB, continues to expand its presence on the African continent and has begun supplying products to Zambia. The company’s partner in the new market is Vetaviana Services, which specialises in veterinary support for poultry farms, the supply of veterinary medicines, and professional training of specialists.

The first stage of cooperation focuses on solutions for poultry. The agricultural sector plays an important role in the Zambian economy, and livestock and poultry farming contribute to employment, the development of small-scale farming, and the strengthening of food security. Poultry farming, in particular, provides the population with an affordable source of animal protein and has the potential for further growth. At the same time, industry development requires increased productivity, proper veterinary support, enhanced biosecurity, and effective prevention of infectious diseases.

The portfolio presented to the market includes live and inactivated poultry vaccines from the POLIMUN line, as well as INDIGO MAX, a remedy for water preparation and control over the vaccine application process.

“Entering a new market for us is, first of all, understanding its real needs and cooperating with a reliable local partner. In Zambia, we see growing interest in high-quality solutions for preventing poultry diseases. The positive reaction to the first delivery confirmed the potential of this direction. The next step is to consistently expand the portfolio and develop long-term cooperation,” says Oleksandr Tkachuk, Director of the International Sales Department of BIOTESTLAB.

In parallel, the possibility of expanding the cattle range to include the BOVIMUN LSD vaccine against Lumpy skin disease is being studied.

The prospects for work in Zambia go beyond the domestic market. The country is part of the Southern and Eastern African Economic Area, where demand for animal products is growing. According to the World Bank, the production of major livestock products in Eastern and Southern Africa increased by 27% between 2010 and 2022. It is expected that further development of the industry will be supported by population growth, urbanisation, and growing consumer demand.
