BIOTESTLAB announces the expansion of its companion animal product portfolio with the introduction of TOBRANORM — a new veterinary ophthalmic solution based on tobramycin 0.3%.
TOBRANORM is the first veterinary eye drop product with tobramycin registered in Ukraine, offering additional therapeutic options for the management of complex ophthalmic diseases in dogs and cats.
A science-driven approach to eye health
TOBRANORM has been developed to ensure effective control of bacterial eye infections, particularly in clinical cases where standard topical therapy may be insufficient.
The active substance, tobramycin (3 mg/ml), is a fast-acting aminoglycoside antibiotic with a bactericidal mechanism of action. Tobramycin disrupts bacterial protein synthesis and compromises cell membrane integrity, leading to bacterial cell death rather than growth inhibition.
Tobramycin is active against a broad range of clinically relevant pathogens, including:
- Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, including penicillin-resistant strains; certain streptococci, including Streptococcus pneumoniae);
- Gram-negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, among others).
TOBRANORM is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions in dogs and cats:
- bacterial and allergic conjunctivitis;
- dacryocystitis;
- “cherry eye” and “red eye” syndromes.
