Composition

1 ml contains active substance:

Ketoprofen 100 mg;

Excipients: benzyl alcohol, L-arginine, water for injections.

Pharmacological properties

KETOPRO-100 is non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that has an analgesic and antipyretic effect. Ketoprofen, which is part of the drug, is a derivative of propionic acid from the carboxylic acids group.

Mechanism of Ketoprofen action consists in inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzyme and suppression of the prostaglandin and thromboxane synthesis. Analgesic action of ketoprofen is associated with inhibition of bradykinin directly, which excites painful nerve endings and thereby provokes pain.

Ketoprofen acts on the central nervous system, suppressing the perception of pain. In horses, ketoprofen counteracts the effect of endotoxin and prevents the occurrence of an intestinal spasm caused by bradykinin.

Ketoprofen is rapidly absorbed after intramuscular administration. The maximum concentration in blood plasma is reached within 30 to 60 minutes. Absolute bioavailability after intramuscular administration for cattle and pigs is 90-100%, for horses – 70%.

More than 98% of ketoprofen binds to plasma proteins and is concentrated in inflamed tissues. The drug is excreted from the body mainly with urine. In recommended doses the preparation has no local irritating, sensitizing, mutagenic, carcinogenic, embryotoxic and teratogenic effects.

Administration

Cattle: the drug is used to treat animals with inflammatory processes of the musculoskeletal system (traumatic lameness, traumatic edema, arthritis, arthrosis, etc.); to treat inflammatory processes caused by respiratory diseases, acute mastitis to reduce pain during breast edema.

Horses: to reduce inflammation and pain in acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system, in particular: lameness of traumatic origin, arthritis, arthrosis, joint injuries (ligament sprains, synovitis), tendinitis, hoof lesions (laminitis), reduction of postoperative pain and inflammation. Symptomatic treatment of colic.

Pigs: anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic therapy for metritis-mastitis-agalactia syndrome and diseases of the musculoskeletal system; for respiratory infections.

Dosage

Cattle: 3 ml of the drug per 100 kg of body weight once daily intravenously or intramuscularly for 3 consecutive days.

Horses: 1 ml of the drug per 45 kg of body weight once daily for 3-5 days. In case of colic, one injection is enough, if reinjection is necessary, it is necessary to reassess the clinical state of the animal.

Pigs: 3 ml per 100 kg of body weight once daily intramuscularly.
