DORAN
Injectable solution
Compositon
1 ml of the drug contains an active substance:
Doramectin – 10.0 mg.
Excipients: benzyl alcohol, ethyl oleate, butylhydroxyanisole, cottonseed oil.
Pharmacological properties
ATC vet code QP54 – endectocides, QPS4AA03 – doramectin.
DORAN is a ready-to-use sterile solution containing the active substance doramectin (10 mg/ml). Doramectin is a new substance of the avermectin group, has a wide range of systemic nematocidal, insecticidal and acaricidal effects, has larvicidal and ovicidal properties. It modulates the activity of chlorine ions in the nervous system and muscles of nematodes and arthropods. By binding to specific receptors, it increases the permeability of synaptic membranes for chlorine ions, which leads to the blockade of the activity of nerve and muscle cells of nematodes and arthropods, which causes paralysis and death of parasites.
In mammals, these receptors are localized only in the central nervous system, and doramectin does not penetrate the blood-brain barrier and is therefore safe for mammals in recommended doses.
The drug in recommended doses does not have mutagenic, teratogenic, or embryotoxic effects.
DORAN is easily absorbed from the injection site, is highly effective and has no negative effect on the animal's body. The pharmacokinetic properties of doramectin ensure long-term maintenance of therapeutic concentrations of the drug in the blood of animals and protect them from parasitic diseases and reinvasion for a long time.
Administration
Treatment and prevention of diseases of cattle, sheep, and pigs caused by nematodes and ectoparasites:
Cattle:
gastrointestinal nematodes (adults and 4th stage larvae):
Ostertagia ostertagi (including inhibited larval stage),
O.lyrata*,
Haemonchus placei,
Trichostrongylus axei,
T.colubriformis,
Cooperia oncophora,
C.pectinata,
C.punctata,
C.surnabada (syn.mcmasteri),
Nematodirus spathiger*,
Bunostomum phlebotomum,
Strongyloides papillosus,
Oesophagostomum radiatum,
Trichuris spp*
* adults
lung helminths (adults and 4th stage larvae): Dictyocaulus viviparus;
eye helminths (adults): Thelazia spp.;
subcutaneous gadflies larvae (parasitic stages): Hypoderma bovis, H.lineatum;
lice: Haematopinus eurysternus, Linognathus vituli, Solenopotes capillatus;
scabies mites: Psoroptes bovis, Sarcoptes scabiei.
It is also used for the treatment and prevention of diseases caused by helminths of the gastrointestinal tract Nematodirus helvetianus, lice Damalinia bovis and scabies mites Chorioptes bovis.
The drug prevents reinvasion of cattle from:
Ostertagia ostertagi | 35 days |
Cooperia oncophora | 21 days |
Dictyocaulus viviparus | 35 days |
Bunostomum phlebotomum | 22 days |
Oesophagostomum radiatum | 21 days |
Trichostrongylus axei | 28 days |
Linognathus vituli | 28 days |
Psoroptes bovis | 42 days |
Haemonchus placei | 28 days |
For greater efficiency, it is recommended to treat commercial livestock with DORAN when transferring to pastures and again after 8 weeks.
Sheep:
Gastrointestinal nematodes (adults and 4th stage larvae):
Chabertia ovina (adults),
Cooperia curticei (L4 stage),
C. oncophora,
Gaigeria pachyscelis,

Oesophagostomum columbianum,
Strongyloides papillosus,
Trichostrongylus axeі,
Trichostrongylus colubriformis,
Trichostrongylus vitrinus,
Trichuris spp. (adults)
*effective against L4 larval stages, even those that are naturally insensitive to benzimidazole derivatives.
1for effective treatment and prevention of animals against adult and L4 larval stages of Nematodirus battus, a dose of 300 mcg/kg body weight is recommended;
scabies mites: Psoroptes ovis;
lung worms: Dictyocaulus filaria (adults);
nasal worms: Oestrus ovis.
Pigs:
Gastrointestinal nematodes (adults and 4th stage larvae):

Oesophagostomum quadrispinulatum,
lung worms: Metastrongylus spp. (adult stage);
kidney worms: Stephanurus dentatus (adult stage);
lice: Haematopinus suis,
scabies mites: Sarcoptes suis.
DORAN 1% protects pigs against invasion or re-invasion by Sarcoptes scabiei for 18 days.
