BIOTESTLAB successfully passed an audit for compliance with ISO 14001:2015, "Environmental Management Systems – Requirements with Guidance for Use". This standard confirms the implementation and compliance with the highest international requirements for environmental management of production processes.
The certification audit was conducted by the Ukrainian office of the well-known international company DQS Holding GmbH (Germany). The certification applies to the company's research and production complex in the Kyiv region.
"The certification according to the ISO 14001:2015 standard confirmed that the company's environmental management system meets the highest international requirements, and the company's work is organised in such a way as to prevent any negative impact on the environment at all stages of production – from the purchase of raw materials to the sale of finished products. The environmental management system is a real tool for improving environmentally friendly production practices. It helps to systematically manage such environmental aspects as emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere, waste generation and management, and the use of natural resources, contributing to their minimisation and reduction of negative impact on the environment," emphasised the company's ecologist, Vasyl Novytsky.
In practice, the company invests in modern production technologies to reduce energy consumption and direct and indirect emissions, clean the air, treat wastewater safely, and separately collect and send waste to specialised companies for processing, etc.
"The introduction of international principles of environmental management has helped us structure and consolidate efforts aimed at achieving environmental goals. Thus, BIOTESTLAB systematically joins global efforts to combat climate change and to promote the rational use of natural resources, strives to be an example of responsible business, and strives to interact more effectively with international partners. I want to thank the entire team that participated in the implementation of the environmental management system and certification preparation," emphasised the company's CEO, Oleg Hrodzevych.
For reference
Environmental management is a systematic approach to managing the environmental aspects of an enterprise, aimed at minimising negative environmental impact, ensuring compliance with legislation, increasing eco-efficiency, and enhancing competitiveness. It includes planning, environmental monitoring, auditing and implementation of international standards.
ISO 14001:2015 is an international standard that confirms the quality and reliability of the environmental management system operating at the enterprise. In addition, the standard contributes to increasing personnel's environmental awareness and competence and provides a basis for continuous improvement: the company regularly analyses the effectiveness of the management system, conducts internal audits, and sets new goals.
