The Ukrainian manufacturer of veterinary drugs BIOTESTLAB has updated its line of medicinal products for pets with the drug Antilact. The new drug is intended for termination of false pregnancy (pseudopregnancy) in female dogs and cats, as well as their lactation for clinical signs. Antilact is available in the form of drops for oral administration.
The active substance of the drug – cabergoline (50 μg) – is an alkaloid, a derivative of ergoline, which acts as an agonist of dopamine receptors, which leads to the cessation of the secretion of prolactin by the pituitary gland, which is the main hormone of lactogenesis. Decreased prolactin inhibits lactation and helps stop the further manifestation of false pregnancy in female dogs and cats.
The drug is also used to terminate lactation for clinical signs (for example, during the period of early weaning of puppies and kittens).
Antilact is produced in the form of a clear liquid in a glass dropper-dispenser, in volume 7 ml. Administer by adding to the feed or by burying directly into the mouth of the animal at a dose of 0.1 ml (3 drops) per 1 kg of body weight. One dose is equivalent to 5 mcg of cabergoline per 1 kg of body weight. The course of treatment: 1 time per day for 4-6 days, depending on clinical signs.
After oral administration, the peak of the cessation of prolactin secretion occurs after 4-8 hours and lasts for several days. In the recommended doses, the drug is generally well tolerated by animals.
Antilact is registered in Ukraine. The Registration certificate number is AB-09473-01-21.
