Pharmacological properties

ATC vet code QJ01 – antibacterial veterinary preparations for systemic use. QJ01CA04 – Amoxicillin.

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic of wide bactericidal action belonging to the group of Aminopenicillins. It blocks the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, inhibits an enzyme activity of transpeptidase and carboxypeptidase, causing the violations of osmotic pressure in bacterial cell that leads to the death of the bacteria at the stage of their growth. Preparation is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria(Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Actinomyces spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes, Actinobacillus spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, Fusobacterium spp., Moraxella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella spp.).

Peak serum concentration is reached in 1-2 hours after the injection and remains on therapeutic levels within 48 hours.

Amoxicillin is practically not metabolized. Excreted mainly in the urine, less in milk and bile.

Betamethasone belongs to the group of synthetic corticosteroids (adrenal hormones), it has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, anti-allergic, anti-proliferative effects.

Betamethasone dipropionate has a prolonged effect due to slow absorption. Betamethasone bioavailability is approximately 72%, half-life is 5.6 hours, 64% of it binds to plasma protein.

It is metabolised in the liver, excreted by kidneys and only a small fraction is excreted in the bile.
